Pfeffernüsse

  • 2 lbs brown sugar
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp ground allspice
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 lb candied fruit
  • 1 lb nut meats (ground almond, pecan, walnuts?)
  • Approx. 7 cups flour

Mix all of the above with enough flour to make a stiff dough. Chill overnight. The next day, form the dough into balls the size of a walnut. Bake on a greased baking sheet at 350° for 10 minutes or until light brown. Can be rolled in powdered sugar after baked.
